City’s winter holiday programmes keep children entertained

The City’s Recreation and Parks Department is hosting ‘Come and Play’ programmes at a host of facilities to keep children engaged during the school holidays. Thousands of children have already taken advantage of what’s on offer, and parents are encouraged to bring their young ones to partake in the fun and games. 

The Recreation and Parks Department hosts a range of indoor and outdoor programmes for children during the winter holiday break.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to bring their children to the nearest recreation centre where holiday programmes take place. There is something exciting for everyone to enjoy, from sports tournaments to board games and much more.

The City's holiday programmes offer a safe and fun environment for children to  learn how to interact with others in a safe environment.

The programmes are designed with children in mind. Play leaders from the Recreation and Parks Department  are responsible for planning activities in an engaging and fun way, where children can learn new social and educational skills.

'The aim of our exiting holiday programme is to create a safe space for children to learn through play and being  active. Children need space to breathe, relax and engage in activities that make them happy, are uplifting, fun and exciting. Play is essential to children's growth and development. We would like to encourage parents and guardians to afford children the opportunity to participate in these events during the holiday,' said Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Councillor Patricia van der Ross.
